Music gigs in fife

This blog will be about music venues in Fife. Many people go to different music concerts and know most of the bigger venues such as the playhouse in Edinburgh and the SECC in Glasgow.

I have to admit that im one of those people. However many people know less about the smaller venues in areas of Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. There may even be events which members of the public can go right to thier front door. This blog will include some of the information on these venues.

One of the biggest venues is PJ Malloys. This is situated in Dunfermline. It can be found on Canmore Street. PJ Malloys is known as a nightclub but also provides live music entertainment too. Many gigs are played here on many different days. One of the most recent events there was Frank Turner. PJ Malloys is very popular with the younger generation. I am probably like many of you, i hadnt really heard of PJ Malloys before but im glad i know now. Because PJ Malloys is in Dunfermline it is a great way to save money and also see good acts very close to where you live. It saves the hassle of transport and the money spent on transport to get there. PJ Malloys is a great venue and many gigs are held there. They provide great entertainment for younger people and also some for older members of the public. There is something for everyone.

Another venue which is very popular in the Dunfermline area is Velocity. This can be found on Carnegie Drive. Velocity is one of the biggest nightclubs in the area and also sometimes play gigs for their audience. The club tends to be popular with the young public as some new hip talent appear live here. The look of the nightclub also suggests that it is aimed at young people from the glittery signs to the fancy decor. My sister recently went to see the Dykeenies play here and said that it was a very good venue but filled with many younger people. She also said she loved the fact that it was so close and she didnt have to spend much money. The Dykeenies are one of her favourite bands which probably helped.

Another main venue in the fife area has to be Kittys. This is situated in Kirkcaldy and can be found on Hunter Street. Kittys is a nightclub. It is probably the biggest place for going out in Kirkcaldy. It has actually been said that it is the best nightspot in the Kirkcaldy town. Another benifit to the nightclub is that you can go to another nightclub called Styx which is located nearby and get cheaper travel. Many people find this very beneficial. One of the good things that this club do is student night on a Thursday night to encourage the younger people of Kirkcaldy to have a good time and let their hair down. The music on this night is more recent to attract students. I must admit i have found myself in Kittys on these nights and the atmosphere is incredible. Everyone is there to enjoy themselves and have a good night. Sometimes you can even bump into old school friends and this is a great chance to catch up. On a saturday night there are often special celebrity appearances. In the past these have included former X Factor contestants including the sheer horror of Wagner and his bongos. There have also been soap members such as Warren from Hollyoaks. Recently the character of Jamie Maguire appeared and i went to meet him and get a photo. It was alot of fun. In the coming weeks there will be appearances from the cast of The Only Way Is Essex which has become a programme with widespread popularity lately.

In my opinion Kittys is a great place to go and is a superb venue. Im not just saying that because im from Kirkcaldy. It may sound bad but i have been in this venue many times and it is a great place to go. The only downside is that there are not many under 18 nights. However there have been a few.

There are many venues in the Fife area which people may not know about. Other venues in the fife area include the YMCA, Bar Itza and the Windsor Hotel. All these venues are in Kirkcaldy and have battle of the band nights for under 18s. These nights are designed to show off the talent in the Kirkcaldy area.

I believe that there are many good venues around the Fife area with many oppurtunities to see bands and enjoy the gig life. I think that maybe more advertising is necessary to get the venues out there and inform people of these places. I believe all these venues are a good thing for the Fife area as they keep people off the streets and allow them to have fun and be entertained.
